In the Inorganic Analysis Working Group, colleagues working in the field of inorganic analysis focus on the development of test methods and comment on current analytical issues in agriculture. Their objective is to provide a timely response.
At present, the group includes 28 researchers from agricultural test and research institutes, food control agencies, government research centres and private sector laboratories in Germany and Austria.

In recent years, their major focus was to develop assay methods for the detection of heavy metals in feedstuffs, plants, fertilisers, soil improvers and culture substrates including the identification of the appropriate process parameters in relevant ring tests. These methods have been published in the VDLUFA Methods Book, volume VII “Environmental Analysis“. The group is currently working on the following topics:

  • Determination of arsenic species,
  • Assay of uranium in fertilisers,
  • Iodine in feedstuffs.

The members of this group are also active in other national and international committees. During their semi-annual meetings, they discuss matters of technical interest and disseminate relevant information gained in national and international committee meetings to other members, thus sharing current knowledge with the entire group.
